Uconn caps off perfect season with National Championship win!

After an extremely poor first half in Tuesday’s National Championship Game which included 18 straight missed shots and a scoring drought of over 10 minutes, Connecticut’s Maya Moore helped spark a 17-2 run after halftime that lifted the Huskies to a 53-47 win over Stanford to cap off their 2nd straight undefeated season & a SEVENTY-EIGHTH consecutive win.
UConn is just 11 more wins away from breaking the Men’s all-time Division I win streak, which is held by John Wooden & his UCLA Bruins of the early 70’s, which won 87 straight before finally falling to Notre Dame.
It’s the seventh national championship won for head coach Geno Auriemma in his 25th year, as he’s now just one behind Pat Summitt for the most all-time among women’s coaches.
Stanford was the last team to beat Connecticut before this amazing streak started, but as Moore said afterwards “We knew we weren’t going to finish the game the way we started”.
