Former NBA player Kirk Snyder was charged on Thursday with aggravated burglary & felonious assault after he broke into a neighbor’s house in the middle of the night & attacked the couple.

The victims are Brad & Eugenia Roberts of Deerfield Township, who said that they had met Snyder for the first time ever just days before the incident.

According to the Roberts’, Snyder gained entry in the house by smashing a landscape rock through the front doors, which is when he proceeded to go upstairs & make his attack.

Snyder has been treated in the past for mental illness, while Dr. Mel Nizny added that the 26-year old isn’t responsible for the attack due to his bouts with bipolar disorder, psychosis & paranoia.

Kirk was drafted by the Utah Jazz in 2004 & spent his 5 NBA seasons with 4 different teams before playing a year overseas in China.

He faces up to 18 months in prison during his sentencing sometime in May.
