The New York Mets will begin their 2010 season without their speedy shortstop, as Jose Reyes will be placed on the 15-day DL with a thyroid problem that’s been plauging him this entire spring.
He appeared in a career-low 36 games last season while battling a hamstring injury & hit .279 with 2 home runs & 15 runs batted in.
Reyes’ injury is another big blow to the Mets, as they will also begin the season without pitcher Kelvim Escobar (shoulder), outfielder Carlos Beltran (knee) & 1st baseman Daniel Murphy (knee).
