Thanks to their recent win, Butler is about to find out how grand “homecourt advantage” can really be.
This comes after their 63-56 win over Kansas State in Saturday’s Elite Eight matchup, which will now send the Horizon League Bulldogs to their first ever Final Four trip in school history…in their own homestate!!!
Even the Butler players acknowledged how big the win was, as they returned home early Sunday morning to a massive crowd in Indianapolis, site for Saturday’s game with Michigan State.
Junior center Matt Howard commented on the frenzy:
“It’s sort of nuts. You know when we came back from the Sweet 16, there were about 20 people here. Look at it now.”
Sophomore point guard Ronald Nored also added:
“There is nothing like coming home and being able to play the Final Four in front of the people who have been watching you all year. Everyone was texting me, telling me there were a ton of people here. But I didn’t believe it.”
Saturday’s game is sure to draw a ton of Butler fans out, as Lucas Oil Stadium is just a 5-mile ride from their campus, which makes them the first team to play a Final Four game in their homestate since UCLA did it in 1972.
Since that Bruins team went on to win it all, there’s no counting these Bulldogs out yet.
