The Cleveland Cavaliers have a key member back for their stretch run, as free-agent center Zydrunas Ilgauskas has re-signed with the team for the remainder of the season.

Ilgauskas was traded to Washington in part of the Antawn Jamison deal on February 17th, but never suited up for the Wizards.

When the Cavaliers recently visited New York to play the Knicks, several of Ilgauskas’ old teammates visited him in his Manhattan apartment, which left a lasting impression on the 34-year old veteran.

Zydrunas on the support he’s gotten from Cleveland fans during his month-long hiatus:

“The way people in Cleveland and the fans have reacted has really humbled me in a positive way. Their support has been unbelievable. I’m from Lithuania and I’ll always be proud of it, but this has become a home to me.”

The Cavaliers waived seldom-used forward Darnell Jackson to make room for Ilgauskas, who is eligible to play tonight against New Orleans.

Cleveland is currently sitting at 56-15 & could become the first NBA team since the ’96-97 Bulls to finish with the league’s best regular-season record in back-to-back seasons.
