The first top-seed has been knocked out of the 2010 NCAA Tournament, as Northern Iowa survived a late run to stun Kansas 69-67.
Panthers’ senior guard Ali Farokhmanesh led the way with 16 points & hit a memorable dagger as he sunk a three-pointer to give Northern Iowa a 5 point lead late into the 2nd half.
Kansas was led by Sophomore forward Maurice Morris’ 16 points, but starting point guard Sherron Collins struggled to score just 10 points on 4-of-15 shooting & committed more turnovers (5) than assists (4).
Northern Iowa will move on to make their 1st ever Sweet 16 appearence in school history next weekend against the winner of Sunday’s Michigan State/Maryland game.
