49ers trade QB Shaun Hill to Lions…

With the recent addition of David Carr, the San Francisco 49ers felt there is no need to carry three quarterbacks.
They solved that problem today with the trade of backup QB Shaun Hill to the Detroit Lions, where he’ll most likely be the backup to Matt Stafford.
Hill was 10-6 as a starter with the 49ers & started the team’s first six games of 2009 before being benched for Alex Smith, who will be the starter for next season.
In three NFL seasons, Hill has completed 61.7% of his passes for 3,490 yards while throwing for 23 touchdowns & 11 interceptions.
San Francisco will receive a 2011 7th round pick in return as part of today’s trade.
