LaDainian Tomlinson’s 9-year run in San Diego & possibly his NFL career have come to an end, as the Chargers released the 5-time Pro Bowler on Monday.
Tomlinson’s entire career thus far has been spent as a Charger, as he was involved in a draft day deal that involved 2001 1st overall pick Michael Vick, who was shipped to Atlanta.
His best season came in 2006, when he racked up a career-high 1,815 rushing yards & set an NFL record in both single season touchdowns (31) as well as rushing touchdowns (28).
Even though his numbers have declined in each of his final three seasons, he did get the opportunity to surpass Jim Brown on December 6th, 2009 as the NFL’s 8th all-time leading rusher.
It is unsure whether he will retire, but the Houston Texans have already shot down a rumor that Tomlinson will be playing for them in 2010.
