The Baltimore Ravens used a strong defensive performance & powerful run game to hand the New England Patriots their 1st home playoff loss in 32 years on Sunday with a 33-14 blowout win.
On the 1st play from scrimmage, Ray Rice broke free for an 83-yard touchdown run, which set the tone for the afternoon.
The Ravens then got two more rushing TD’s from both McClain & Rice, while Billy Cundiff’s 27-yarder gave the visitors a commanding 24-0 first quarter lead.
New England tried to rally after a pair of Tom Brady TD passes to rookie Julian Edelman, but Willis McGahee’s 3-yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter put the game away.
Baltimore gashed New England’s run defense for 259 yards on the ground, as Rice ran for 159 for them alone on 22 carries & scored 2 touchdowns.
Brady was harassed all day by an aggressive Ravens’ defense, and it showed in his numbers as he completed just 23 of 42 passes for 154 yards with 2 touchdowns, 3 interceptions & was sacked 4 times.
Baltimore will now on to face Indianapolis in the Divisional Playoffs on Saturday.
