The defending champs just got stronger, as 6-year veteran outfielder Curtis Granderson will head to the New York Yankees as part of a 7-player deal.
In return, Detroit will get reliever Phil Coke & prospect Austin Jacksonwhile Ian Kennedy would be shipped to Arizona.
Granderson would be an ideal replacement for the 36-year old Johnny Damon, who could actually still re-sign with the Yankees.
Curtis appeared in a career-high 160 games & hit 31 home runs last season for Detroit & became just the 3rd player in MLB History to reach 20 doubles, 20 triples, 20 home runs & 20 stolen bases in a single season back in 2007.
