The Chicago Bears & New England Patriots will have to go elsewhere to try & fill the void to their injured perennial linebackers Brian Urlacher (out for season) & Jerod Mayo (out for 8 weeks), as former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks will make his debut tomorrow for ESPN2’s “First Take” morning show.
Brooks was released by the Buccaneers over the offseason, which ended a glorious career in which he made 11 Pro-Bowls, won the 2002 award of Defensive Player of the Year & was part of the team that won Super Bowl XXXVII over the Oakland Raiders.
The 14-year veteran is only one of five players to ever make more than 10 Pro Bowl appearences, win Defensive Player of the Year & win a Super Bowl, as he joins Ray Lewis, Mike Singletary, Lawrence Taylor & the late Reggie White.
Brooks also won the 2000 Walter Payton Man of the Year award & was named MVP in the 2006 Pro Bowl.
