Written by on August 6, 2009

After a 10-year hiatus inbetween coaching stints, Kurt Rambis will finally get his big break.

Rambis will become the 10th head coach in Minnesota Timberwolves franchise history, as he will replace GM Kevin McHale (20-43 record during the 2008-09 season).

Rambis’ only previous head coaching experience was with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 1998-99 season, as he went 24-13 after the firing of Del Harris.

Rambis was then preceded by Phil Jackson & served under his coaching staff for all 4 of his Laker championships, which includes June’s win in 5 games over the Orlando Magic.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have had 5 consecutive losing seasons & have not reached the playoffs since 2004, when Flip Saunders served as their head coach.
