Quarterback Eli Manning & the New York Giants struck a deal on Wednesday that will now make him the highest paid player in the NFL for next season.

This comes at the heels of a $97 million, 6-year extension that will pay Manning higher than his fellow Class of 2004 quarterbacks Philip Rivers & Ben Roethlisberger.

The only player in the league that will make more money than Manning next season is Carolina Panthers’ defensive end Julius Peppers, who will earn $16.7 million on just a 1-year deal.

Eli did post career-highs last season in completion percentage (60.3%), quarterback rating (86.4) & finished with the best touchdown to interception ratio (21 to 10) of his 5-year career.

Manning will have his work cut out for him next season, as the Giants are holding position battles at wide receiver between Domenik Hixon, Mario Manningham, rookie Hakeem Nicks, Steve Smith & Sinorice Moss among others.

The team will not bring back Plaxico Burress, who recently got indicted on 2 counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree & a single count of reckless endangerment in the 2nd degree.

Burress can serve anywhere from 3 to 15 years in prison if found guilty.
