Torii Hunter belts 3 homers during Angels’ 9-1 win…

Los Angeles Angels’ centerfielder Torii Hunter had himself a career evening with 3 home runs against the San Diego Padres & afterwards compared himself to Laker superstar Kobe Bryant.
Hunter on his 3-homer game:
“It’s like you’re in a zone. And when you’re in a zone, a lot of good things can happen. Tonight I felt like Kobe. When Kobe’s in a zone, he’s hitting everything. And now I know how it feels. That was a lot of fun.”
Hunter’s 1st homer of the evening was a solo shot to left field off Padres starter Josh Geer & gave the Angels a 4-0 lead.
Hunter’s 2nd homer of the game was a solo shot to straightaway center off Geer again to make it 5-0 Angels, which got over a leaping Tony Gwynn Jr. to leave the ballpark.
Hunter’s 3rd & final homer of the game was another solo shot to straightaway center off Joe Thatcher, but Gwynn Jr. could only watch as it hit the rocks & gave Torii his first career 3-homer game.
Hunter is the first MLB player to hit 3 homers in a game this season & the first to do it overall since Tampa Bay’s Evan Longoria accomplished the feat on September 18, 2008 against Minnesota.
Hunter is the first Angel to have a 3-HR game since Garret Anderson did it on June 4th, 2003 against the now-defunct Montreal Expos.
