Braves trade for Nate McLouth…

The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded away yet another one of their talented players.
This time, it’s Nate McLouth’s turn as the 1-time All-Star centerfielder was dealt on Wednesday afternoon to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for outfielder Gorkys Hernandez along with pitchers Charlie Morton & Jeff Locke.
This deal comes nearly a year after Pittsburgh traded away outfielders Xavier Nady & Jason Bay in a 6-day stretch to the New York Yankees & Boston Red Sox. (Bay was part of the 3-team deal that brought Manny Ramirez to the Los Angeles Dodgers)
McLouth is coming off a career 2008 season in which he reached career-highs in games played (152), runs scored (113), doubles (46), triples (4), home runs (26), runs batted in (94), walks (65), stolen bases (23), on-base percentage (.356) & slugging percentage (.497).
McLouth’s depature from Pittsburgh should open up more playing time for veteran Craig Monroe, who is batting .232 with 3 home runs and 15 runs batted in 29 games.
