45-year old San Francisco Giants southpaw Randy Johnson will get his 1st attempt to become the 24th major league pitcher to reach 300 career wins on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals.
Johnson won his 299th game last night after pitching 6 solid innings & allowed just 1 run on 3 hits while striking out five during the Giants’ 6-3 win over the Atlanta Braves.
Johnson has a career mark of 4-3 in 10 starts against Washington with a 2.99 ERA.
Should Randy accomplish the historic feat on Wednesday, he will be the third pitcher since 2003 to do it, joining Roger Clemens, Greg Maddux & Tom Glavine.
Philadelphia’s Jamie Moyer is 2nd on the active list with 249 career wins.
