April 18th, 2009.

You better mark that date down, because i am not sure if we will ever witness anything again like we saw today.

We will start with the Chicago Bulls, who began their postseason run on Saturday morning in Boston against the defending world champion Celtics.

Bulls’ rookie phenom guard Derrick Rose had a playoff debut to remember forever, as he dominated the game with 36 points & 11 assists to lead Chicago to a thrilling 105-103 OT win over Boston.

Ben Gordon got hot late & finished with 20 points & 5 assists, while Joakim Noah also made his presence known inside by scoring 11 points, grabbing 17 rebounds & blocking 3 shots.

The Celtics were led by Rajon Rondo, who scored 29 points, grabbed 9 rebounds & dished out 7 assists in a losing effort. Paul Pierce also added 23 points & 7 rebounds, but 2nd leading scorer Ray Allen was held to just 4 points on 1-of-12 shooting.

As for Rose, his 36 points ties an NBA Playoff record alongside Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (accomplished on March 25th, 1970 against Philadelphia) for the most points scored among rookies making their postseason debut.

Rose also beat out Michael Jordan, who scored 35 points in his NBA playoff debut during the 1984-85 season against Milwaukee.

The Chicago Blackhawks continued their 1st-round NHL Playoff series with a thrilling 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames.

Chicago faced an early 2-0 deficit, but rallied in the 2nd period to score 3 goals which included Jonathan Toews’ game-winner with 46 seconds remaining.

Toews also scored the Hawks’ 1st goal of the game with 19:36 left, while Patrick Sharp tied it with 13:58 remaining.

Chicago now leads the series 2-0 as Game 3 will shift to Calgary for Monday evening.

For the second straight day, a thrilling Chicago Cubs’ rally ended with a dramatic game-winning home run.

Aramis Ramirez belted a 2-run walkoff homer in the 11th inning to lift the Cubs to a 7-5 win over the rival St. Louis Cardinals, which gave the North Siders their 2nd dramatic win in a row.

The Cubs’ heavily-criticized bullpen pitched 5 innings today & allowed just 1 run, which was Yadier Molina’s game-tying RBI double off Carlos Marmol in the 8th inning.

Finally, the Chicago White Sox scored the game’s first six runs during their 8-3 win over the defending AL Champion Tampa Bay Rays.

Carlos Quentin hit his 6th home run tonight, which now ties Tampa Bay’s Carlos Pena for the major-league lead.

The Chicago Fire almost made it FIVE wins today, but blew a 2-goal lead & wound up in a 2-2 tie with Kansas City.
