78-year old Hall of Fame & 2 time-NBA Championship winning head coach Chuck Daly was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
It is not known at this time if Daly’s form of cancer is life threatening, but his family says that he is being treated for it.
Chuck Daly is the winningest coach in Detroit Pistons’ franchise history, as he holds team records for most regular-season wins (467) and playoff wins (71).
Head- coached teams under Daly went 13 consecutive years without a losing record, with his last coaching stint coming in the 1998-99 season with the Orlando Magic. (Orlando went 33-17 under Daly before losing to Philadelphia in the 1st round of the playoffs)
Daly was also the coach of the 1992 United States’ Men’s Olympic “Dream” Team, who won the Gold Medal in Barcelona & outscored opponents by an average of 43.8 points per game while NEVER using a single timeout.
