Knicks & Stephon Marbury agree to buyout..

It appears that Stephon Marbury’s 5 year tenure in New York has come to an end.

Since Marbury was able to agree to a buyout before March 1st, he is now free to sign with any NBA team.

Marbury has been heavily linked to join the Boston Celtics, which would reunite him with 12-time All Star forward Kevin Garnett.

Marbury & Garnett spent 3 years together in Minnesota, which resulted in three consecutive 1st-round playoff exits.

Marbury’s final game as a Knick was on January 11th, 2008 as he scored 13 points on 6 of 13 shooting & dished out 8 assists during New York’s 99-90 loss to Toronto.

Stephon will have to prove that he can still play at a high level after averaging career-lows in minutes per game (33), made field goals per game (4.6), attempted field goals per game (11), free-throw percentage (71.6%), assists per game (4.7) & points per game (13.9 during the 2007-08 season.

One bright spot from Marbury’s otherwise dismal 2007-08  season was a career-high 37.9% in three-point field goal attempts.
