It’s no secret that Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree has the ability to become a dangerous & explosive rookie in the NFL next season.
But on Saturday, it was revealed that Crabtree has a stress fracture in his left foot which will sideline him for 10 weeks.
If this hurts his status of becoming a surefire top 10 pick, there are several NFL teams that can really benefit from this.
Let’s start with the Denver Broncos, who hold the 12th overall pick.
Crabtree would give Denver an explosive trio of weapons at wide receiver, which includes Pro-Bowler Brandon Marshall (104 rec for 1,265 yards & 6 TD) & Eddie Royal (91 rec for 980 yards & 5 TD).
This would definitely turn Jay Cutler into an elite NFL quarterback, as Cutler threw for a career-high 25 touchdown passes last season & made the Pro-Bowl.
Next up is the New Orleans Saints, who hold the 14th overall pick.
With Lance Moore coming off a career year (79 rec for 928 yards & 10 TD) alongside Marques Colston (47 rec for 760 yards & 5 TD), Crabtree’s presence could boost the Saints into the NFL’s top-ranked offense for next season.
It would also greatly benefit Drew Brees, who threw for 5,069 passing yards & 34 touchdowns last season, which are both career-highs.
Up next is the Houston Texans, who hold the 15th overall pick.
Andre Johnson is coming off a sensational year (115 rec for 1,575 yards & 8 TD) & with Kevin Walter also having a career year (60 rec for 899 yards & 8 TD), Crabtree would give the Texans the NFL’s most dynamic receiving trio.
Can’t leave out tight end Owen Daniels, who caught a career-high 70 receptions for 862 yards last season.
This definitely figures to benefit Matt Schaub, who threw for a career-high 3,043 passing yards & 15 touchdowns last season.
And finally, the San Diego Chargers with the 16th overall pick.
Vincent Jackson is coming off a career year (59 rec for 1,098 yards & 7 TD) & with the always dependable tight end Antonio Gates (60 rec for 704 yards & 8 TD), Crabtree would give the Chargers another explosive weapon in their passing game.
This would translate into another monster season from Philip Rivers, who threw for 4,009 passing yards & 34 touchdowns in 2008. (Both career-highs)
Crabtree is already being compared to Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald, who totaled a career-high 1,431 receiving yards & 12 touchdowns last season.
The party didn’t stop there, as Fitzgerald caught at least 6 receptions for 100 yards or more during each of the Cardinals’ three postseason victories which carried them to their first ever Super Bowl apperance.
Fitzgerald caught 7 receptions for 127 yards & scored 2 touchdowns in Super Bowl XLIII against Pittsburgh as Arizona lost 27-23 in the final minute to prevent them from stunning all of football as World Champions.
