Teenager Killed by Amtrak Train

LANSING – Fourteen year old Christopher Davis was hit by an Amtrak train and killed yesterday.
Davis was one of six teens on their way to a sweet 16 party, when they tried to beat an oncoming train.
Five teenagers made it across, as everyone ran as fast as they could to beat the train, despite the gates being down and the flashing red lights.
Investigators have ruled the death an accident.
“The kids were trying to run across the tracks to get to other side. Unfortunately, one kid didn’t make it across,” Lansing Det. Lt. Dan Sylvester said. “In these cases, the train never loses. You’re talking literally hundreds of thousands of tons in motion.”
The victim was pronouced dead on the scene.
