R.I.P. 2008 Chicago Bears…
Written by The Go-To-Man Mattie T. on December 28, 2008
Sad day in Chicago, as the Bears got eliminated from the playoffs with their 31-24 loss to the Houston Texans.
Once again, the Bears were plagued with something that has cost them several games throughout the season: failure to protect their leads.
Chicago led this game 10-0 early & looked like a team that was playing with confidence & swagger, but that was taken away when Houston scored 21 unanswered points.
The pass rush has been a big issue all season, as they failed to record a single sack against Matt Schaub.
It’s just really disappointing to see the team shell out millions of dollars to keep several of their key defensive & special-teams players & have them underachieve for 16 games. I still think the Bears made a huge mistake in letting Ron Rivera go to the Chargers, who still have a shot of making the playoffs with a win tonight over Denver.
Matt Forte was awesome all season long & i think he’ll be a stud in this league for the next 10 years. Excellent draft pick by the Bears, as 2008 proved to be a great year for rookie running backs.
Key free agents for ’09 include Mike Brown, Desmond Clark & Rex Grossman. So Bears fans, what shall we do to improve this team over the winter & get back to the playoffs?
Get at me.
